A 50-year-old Indian man has been
fired for alleged theft after using his firm's mains supply to
charge the battery of his moped, the Bergamo edition of Corriere
della Sera newspaper said Saturday.
The man said in his defence that he only used eletricity worth
some 25 cents while the company, Novella Bio of Trescore near
Bergamo, said the alleged crime had been reiterated on several
occasions, charging him with "theft and insubordination".
They said he had ignored instructions not to keep reccharging
his vehicles's battery from their supply.
The man's lawyers said the firm was making a reprisal against
him for his union activities.
