Prosecutors on Friday placed under
investigation an employee of Italian rail company RFI in
relation to the death of five workers hit by a train while
repairing tracks on the Milan-Turin line near Brandizzo station
in the province of Turin on Wednesday night.
The suspect is Antonio Massa, 46, from Grugliasco near Turin.
He was the RFI employee responsible for the worksite where the
victims, employed by Sigifer in Borgovercelli, were making the
repairs.
Prosecutors believe Massa should have prevented the team of
workers from starting work until after the train had passed.
