President Sergio Mattarella on
Wednesday reiterated that efforts must continue to reach a just
peace in Ukraine.
"There is high anxiety in Italy over the war provoked by Russia
in Ukraine and how much it is disturbing the life of the world,"
said Mattarella while receiving the President of the Socialist
Republic of Vietnam, Võ Văn Thưởng, at the Quirinale Palace in
Rome.
"We have talked about the arms race that subtracts energy from
other areas. For this reason constant efforts are required for
peace, a just peace," continued the president.
This, he said, is all the more true "in the light of the
dramatic consequences of Russia's decision to suspend the grain
agreement: a common effort is therefore urgently needed to
arrive at a prospect of peace".
