Some 14 people including rail execs
and local officials were acquitted Thursday night in the July 16
2016 train disaster on the single-track Andria-Corato section of
the Ferrovie del Nord Barese railways that killed 23 people and
injured 51 others.
The only two defendants convicted were the station master at
Andria and the driver of the train travelling from Andria to
Corato.
Managers at the Ferrotramviaria rail company and Puglia
officials, accused of cost-cutting in culpable homicide, were
all acquitted.
The relatives of the victims said "this is a disgrace, it's not
