Italy was one of the countries that
founded the European Union and it wants to be a protagonist in
building the unity needed to face major geopolitical challenges,
Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on
Thursday.
"The Italian government has two polar stars: transatlantic
relations and Europe," Tajani told the State of the Union
conference organised by the European University Institute (EUI)
in Fiesole, Tuscany.
"We are a founding country, we want to be protagonists in the
construction of a path that sees all peoples united to face the
great geopolitical challenges together," said Tajani.
"When the war is over, there will be giants - the US, China,
India, Russia - with which we will have to measure ourselves,"
he added.
