Three people are missing after a
seven-metre-long migrant boat sank in the Mediterranean
overnight.
An Italian coast guard vessel saved 46 people, including seven
minors and 13 women, after the shipwreck, which took place in
the Italian SAR (search and rescue) zone.
The mother of a three-month baby boy who survived the shipwreck
is among the missing people.
The survivors, who are from Guinea, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and
Gambia, landed on the island of Lampedusa shortly before
midnight.
They said they departed from Tunisia and paid 2,000 dinar for
the crossing.
The baby, Ismaele, has been examined by doctors are is said to
be in a good condition.
