Italian police on Friday arrested 15
suspected migrant smugglers believed to have been responsible
for landing over 1,000 migrants on the coast of Calabria
recently.
An article of a new government passed at a cabinet meeting in
the Calabrian town of Cutro, site of a recent migrant disaster
that claimed at least 90 lives including at least 35 minors,
with over 10 still missing, was applied in relation to the death
of a young Pakistani man, judicial sources said.
The three landings of the 1,000 migrants took place on March 23,
24 and 26.
Some 34 survivors of the Cutro disaster flew to Germany on
Friday.
