The Italian Coast Guard has rescued
over 1,200 migrants in the last few hours, the service said
Saturday.
Rescues coordinated by the Coast Guard's National Maritime
Rescue Centre of two boats intercepted Friday more than 100
miles off the coast of Roccella Ionica in Calabria, in Italian
Search and Rescue (SAR) waters, are still ongoing.
There have been over 4,000 migrant arrivals in Italy in the last
four days.
The Coast Guard ship Dattilo arrived in Reggio Calabria earòier
Saturday with 584 migrants on board, all rescued at sea during
three different interventions.
