(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 3 - An unnamed worker died after falling
into a tank or cistern in the Verona area on Friday, local
sources said.
The accident occurred today in Pressana (Verona).
The 118 emergency services with Carabinieri and Fire Brigade
responded and were at the scene.
But the man was extracted from the cistern already lifeless, and
they could do nothing for him.
An autopsy has been ordered.
The accident was the latest in a long and shocking spate of
Italian workplace fatalities that have garnered headlines and
spurred government action, so far without much success.
Fatal workplace accidents actually fell 10.7% last year but this
was due to the effects of the COVID-19 emergency fading away, a
survey said earlier this week. (ANSA).
