Prosecutors in the northern city of
Forlì have reopened the case of Cristina Golinucci, a
21-year-old woman who went missing in September 1992, a lawyer
for the Penelope association representing the families of
missing people said Wednesday.
It is suspected that Golinucci was murdered.
The prosecutors are pursuing "an investigative path never taken
before that we hope will lead to the discovery of Cristina's
body," said the lawyer, Barbara Iannuccelli.
Golinucci went missing close to a monastery of Capuchin friars,
one of whom was her confessor.
Iannuccelli said the case could be linked to that of Chiara
Bolognesi, a woman who went missing in the same area a month
after Golinucci and whose body was found in a river on October
31, 1992.
"Cristina graduated from the same school as Chiara, she knew the
same people as Chiara and the two young women frequented the
same voluntary association," said Iannuccelli.
"So there is one murderer who killed them both.
"It's time for the wall of silence to collapse and we appeal to
those who know what happened to speak so that these two poor
girls can have justice".
