It is right to raise attention on
anarchists amid a wave of attacks in support of ailing jailed
leader Alfredo Cospito, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi
said Monday.
"A rise in tension" on the part of the anarchists "must be
followed by a rise in attention," Piantedosi said after attacks
in Italy and abroad before Cospito, 55, was moved from a jail in
Sardinia to an ICU unit in a Milan prison.
"We are following these situations with great care", "in a way
that is unrelated to the ongoing proceedings" on Alfredo
Cospito, "without, as Prime Minister Meloni said, any threats to
the State resulting from this", Piantedosi said on the Tg4
programme 'Diario del giorno' on Rete 4.
Meloni has said Italy will stand firm in face of the attacks,
which are against the mafia style 41 bis prison regime for which
Cospito has been on hunger strike for 100 days, losing 45kg in
weight and seriously compromising his health.
His doctor said Sunday he ran the risk of having heart
fibrillations as his condition continues to deteriorate.
