An Italian skier and hiker was found
alive Friday despite having spent the night in a northern
Italian avalanche at more than 10 degrees below zero.
The Rovigo man, 55, who has not been named, was partially buried
by an avalanche in Val Badia Thursday afternoon.
He was located by a helicopter of the Alpine rescue service Aiut
Alpin Dolomites, which used a system, ARVA, for electronic
searches inside avalanches.
The tourist was urgently taken to a hospital in Bolzano.
He is believed to be doing OK.
