A motorcyclist and a Carabiniere
policeman are both in serious condition in hospital after the
rider hit the cop at a checkpoint in Naples Thursday.
The man, 18, was on a powerful scooter when he ran the
checkpoint in Corso Arnaldo Lucci, on the southern outskirts of
the southern Italian port city, local sources said.
The young man had been ordered to halt after making dangerous
manoeuvres in traffic, police said.
The scooter hit the officer full-on, police said.
The impact was so hard that the rider was thrown off his bike
and sailed through the air for several metres, they said.
The Carabiniere was taken to Pellegrini Hospital and the young
man to the Ospedale del Mare, where both were said to be in
serious but stable condition.
