The owner of the second hideout used
by Mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro during his 30-year run from
justice had been cleared of Mafia charges, sources said
Wednesday.
The man, Errico Risalvato, was investigated and then acquitted,
in 2001, of charges of mafia association.
He is the owner of the house in Via Maggiore Toselli, in
Campobello di Mazara, where police discovered Messina Denaro's
second hideout, about 300 metres from the first one.
Errico is the brother of Giovanni Risalvato, sentenced to 14
years for mafia charges and now free, a concrete contractor.
The second hideout is an armoured room accessed from the sliding
bottom of a wardrobe, the police said.
