A drunk driver went the wrong way on
Italy's main north-south A1 motorway for a few kilometres in
central Tuscany early on New Year's Day before being stopped
before he could cause an accident.
The man, a 33-year-old Peruvian, was found to be over three
times over the legal limit for blood alcohol.
He was fined and cited for drunk driving.
His license and car were seized.
The incident took place not far from Florence, on the stretch of
the A1 between the Impruneta and Scandicci exits.
