Italy's COVID-19 Rt transmission
number rose to 1.14 in the November 9-22 period, the weekly
coronavirus monitoring report of the health ministry and the
Higher Health Institute (ISS) said on Friday, up from 1.04 in
last week's report.
An Rt above 1 indicates that the virus is in a phase of
expansion.
The report said the nationwide incidence was 386 cases for every
100,000 inhabitants, which is effectively stable with respect to
last week's figure of 388.
It said the proportion of ordinary-ward hospital beds occupied
by COVID sufferers was 13.3% on December 1, up from 12% on
November 24.
It said 3.2% of intensive-care places were taken up by
coronavirus patients, up from 2.5% last week.
The report said the number of regions above the 15% alarm
threshold for ordinary-ward occupation by COVID patients had
risen from five to seven.
They are: Emilia Romagna (17.1%), Friuli Venezia Giulia (20.6%),
Liguria (27%), Marche (18.6%), Umbria (35.5%), Valle d'Aosta
(17.9%) and Veneto (16%).
