A 56-year-old Italian man with a long
history of mental issues stabbed his 84-year-old mother to death
with a pair of scissors in their Marche home on Sunday, local
sources said Monday.
The man, Michele Quadraroli, and his mother, Maria Bianchi, had
a tobacconist's shop in the town of San Severino Marche near
Macerata, where they were very well known.
Quadraroli tried to burn Bianchi's body after killing her,
police said.
The man, who has been arrested, has been in treatment for
psychiatric problems for some time, local sources said.
The apartment where the alleged crime took place was in Via
Raffaello, the same street as the local Carabinieri barracks.
