The EU must face challenges together,
visiting President Sergio Mattarella told Dutch Premier Mark
Rutte in The Hague Thursday.
"Our bilateral relationship is one of sincere and frank
friendship that develops over time. I do not forget that Italy
and the Netherlands are two founding countries (of the EU),"
Mattarella said.
"And they are also developing this collaboration in the Atlantic
Alliance. We refer to common values and this requires great
awareness that the challenges we face require a common
commitment, no country can face them alone.
"I feel the responsibility to make the Union more and more a
common home, because the Union is a community of values".
