A 23-year-old woman has been arrested
after running over and killing a 18-year-old man, who was
walking on a sidewalk in Rome's via Colombo street, and
subsequently testing positive for drugs and alcohol, sources
said on Thursday.
The woman, who has been put under house arrest, had been taken
to hospital for injuries she suffered after losing control of
her car overnight.
A passenger also suffered minor injuries.
The victim was named as Francesco Valdiserri, the son of two
journalists for Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Paola Di
Caro and Luca Valdiserri.
"My marvellous 18-year-old is no longer here," Di Caro said.
"My child, who had started to get going in life.
"A car hit him in the night and he won't come back.
"Nothing will come back.
"Nothing has any sense any more. Nothing".
