A 59-year-old Italian businessman fell through a factory roof and died near Cremona on Thursday.
The man, Giordano Cicognani, was walking along the roof of his works when a panel gave way and he fell five metres to his death.
    The accident happened at Offanengo.
He was in a desperate condition when medical teams arrived on the scene, and expired soon afterwards, police said.
    An autopsy has been ordered.
Italy is in the middle of a long spate of fatal workplace accidents, which has remained unabated despite government action to up workplace safety.
A 42-year-old worker was run over and killed by a van while cutting grass near a service station on a northern Italian highway earlier Thursday.
The man, Matteo Tambalo, an artisan resident at Ca' degli Oppi, a 'frazione' of the nearby town of Oppeano, was killed while working on the verge on the right hand side of the carriageway, police said.
The driver of the van lost control of the vehicle for as yet unknown reasons and crashed into Tambalo.
