Carabinieri police found a
57-year-old dead in the garden of his home in Corte
Palasio, in the northern province of Lodi, with two cuts to the
throat late on Monday, sources said.
The police rushed to the scene after neighbours heard screams
and sounded the alarm.
The victim, Pierangelo Repanati, a journalist who was the mayor
of the town between 2004 and 2009, is thought to have been
attacked while watering plants in his garden.
Investigators suspect robbers killed him during an attempted
burglary, the sources said.
