A 42-year-old Serbian woman was shot
dead by her 44-year-old Serbian ex partner in a street in
Vicenza on Wednesday, and the presumed killer was later found
dead in a car containing another body on the ring road
surrounding the Veneto city.
The woman's murder took place in the Gogna quarter, on the
outskirts of Vicenza.
The woman, Lidia Miljkovic, had just taken her two children to
school and was in her car about to head for home, when the
murderer approached her. It may have been a rendez-vous, police
said.
The man, also Serbian, shot her while she was still in the
vehicle, police said.
A manhunt has been launched across Veneto.
It later emerged that the man had been served a restraining
order regarding his ex in 2019.
He is said to be armed and dangerous, and carrying explosives,
two of which he set off while making his getaway, police said.
