Swiss authorities on Tuesday denied
Italian prosecutors' request to hand over a Roman property
broker who has been charged with the attempted extortion of a
property company in the Italian capital.
The Swiss authorities said they did not recognize Danilo
Coppola's role in the case of the Prelios company as a crime.
Prelios owns the Porta Vittoria property complex.
Real-estate magnate Coppola was arrested in Rome in May 2016 on
suspicion of fraudulent bankruptcy.
In April that year, Coppola was sentenced to nine years for a
string of bankruptcies totalling 300 million euros.
Coppola turns 55 on Wednesday.
