A 41-year-old Italian man on Monday
set fire to his girlfriend's home near Biella in Piedmont.
The man suffered smoke inhalation after torching the flat at
Andorno.
His girlfriend, 36, was taken to hospital with various injuries
after she threw herself out of a window at a height of about
three metres.
The woman's 12-year-old son was also in the apartment at the
time of the incident.
He was taken to Biella hospital with mild smoke inhalation, like
a 26-year-old neighbour.
The woman's second child was not at home when the man torched
the flat.
An adjoining flat was also damaged.
Neighbours called police after they heard a loud bang and saw
the woman jump from the balcony.
The reasons for the incident are not yet known.
