A five-year-old girl was found shaken
but mostly unhurt in the countryside in Molise around noon
Sunday, some 15 hours after going missing from her home in the
southern Italian region after being told off.
Nicole Del Gobb was said to be suffering from the cold and had a
few scratches from bushes she had crawled through, rescuers
said.
She was found about two km from her home in the village of
Sant'Angelo Limosano near Campobasso.
The place is around 900 metres above sea level and it had been
snowing during the girl's disappearance.
She also had to ensure sub-zero temperatures during her night
out in the elements after leaving her house at around nine
thirty pm Saturday.
"It's a miracle she's alive, seeing as how cold it was last
night," said her grandfather Nicola Lomma.
Nicole had been reprimanded for her behaviour by her mother, he
said.
"The next thing my daughter saw when she went back into the room
was a chair next to the open window, through which Nicole had
climbed out".
"She must have been gone for about half an hour tops before my
daughter noticed she had fled the house.
"Now the little dear is well apart form the scratches she
suffered crawling through the bushes.I hope this is a lesson for
her".
