In Italy 4,641,064 people eligible to
be vaccinated for COVID-19 have not had a coronavirus jab,
according to data in the latest weekly report of COVID Emergency
Commissioner Francesco Figliuolo.
It said 1.5 million of the unvaccinated were children aged five
to 11.
The report said 1,230,064 over-50s were unvaccinated even though
the COVID jab is mandatory for people in this age group.
It said the number of vaccinations being done in Italy has
fallen significantly.
It said only 479,134 jabs were done last week. For a long time
in recent months around half a million vaccinations were being
done every day here.
It said 49.5 million people in Italy are vaccinated for
COVID-19, 83.6% of the population over five, and 38 million have
had three doses.
