Amendment passed to phase out fur farming in Italy

Breeding and killing animals for fur to be banned

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 21 - An amendment to the government's 2022 budget bill that has been passed by a Senate committee sets Italy on course to phasing out fur farming.
The amendment bans the breeding and killing of animals purely for their fur.
It allows existing fur farms to keep their animals until June 30, 2022.
It also sets aside three million euros to compensate the businesses affected by the measure. (ANSA).
