Health Minister Roberto Speranza on
Wednesday admitted that the situation was getting complicated,
with COVID-19 cases on the rise again and fears about the spread
of the new, more contagious Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
"Things are not simple at the moment," Speranza said in a video
message to the Healthcare Summit event organized by Il Sole 24
Ore.
"We are in the middle of the pandemic, with numbers rising all
over Europe and also in our country, although with slightly
lower numbers.
"Once again we must invest all our energy in the real lever that
we have - the vaccination campaign.
"The numbers over the last few days have been encouraging.
"There has been an increase in the number of people having third
doses and in those having their first dose".
