Almost three million workers in Italy
would get a pay rise if a bill to introduce a minimum wage of
nine euros a hour gross that is being examined in the Senate
were approved, according to an analysis done by ANSA on the
basis of data from statistics agency ISTAT and pensions and
social security agency INPS.
Indeed, the collective contracts for 21% of employed workers,
some 2.9 million people, have pay levels under this threshold.
These include the collective contracts for cooks, waiters,
bar staff, drivers, gardeners, and welders.
