Two people are dead and about a
dozen are injured after an explosion at a petrol station in the
central province of Rieti, polices sources said on Wednesday.
The dead people are a firefighter and a person who was near
to the station when a liquefied petroleum gas tanker exploded at
Borgo Quinzio, the sources said.
"A red zone has been drawn up around all the area which has
been sealed off for the moment," said the mayor of nearby Fara
Sabina, Davide Basilicata.
"We are waiting for the firefighters to give us the all clear
and possible communications about evacuating the area".
