Some 42 employees of the
Sicilian regional health agency have been placed under
investigation for absenteeism while 11 have been placed under
house arrest, judicial sources said Tuesday.
The alleged clock-in cheats went about their own business in
office hours, tax police said.
They worked together "to attest false presence at work",
police said.
Many of the workers went to the hairdressers or shopping
after colleagues had clocked in for them, police said.
Another eleven of those probed have been ordered to sign in
regularly with police, while another 20 have been cited.
