An Italian woman changed her
train seat to move away from a black woman on Sunday, saying "I
don't want to be near a n**ger", the black woman's mother said
on Facebook Monday.
The victim of the latest episode of racism was a 23-year-old
woman of Indian origin, Shanti.
"Yesterday afternoon I took my daughter to Milan's central
station and she took the Frecciarossa (high-speed train) to
Trieste," Shanti's mother said in her post.
"Soon afterwards she sends me this message:
'I sat in my seat and the lady next to me says: but you're in
this seat? And I say yes madam...and she, can I see your
ticket...I showed it to her and she says well I don't want to be
near a n**ger and she moved. Absurd'."
Last week a Senegalese man was told by a bus passenger he had
to move, on a coach heading from Trento to Rome, because of the
colour of his skin.
