The body of a young woman was
found in the Tor Sapienza area of Rome early Friday and is
thought to be that of a 20-year-old Chinese student Zhang Yao
Natain, who disappeared in the area Monday. The body was in a
bush and, according to initial information, may have been
knocked there by a passing train. Zhang came to Rome to frequent
the Fine Arts Academy (Accademia dele Belle Arti) and went
missing after going to Rome's immigration office to get her
student's residency permit. Initially police suspected a
kidnapping for ransom. Police said they had received a report
overnight that there was a body lying in a bush near the railway
lines. When the Carabinieri saw the body's Asiatic features they
alerted the police investigating the student's disappearance.
Forensic examinations are still ongoing.
