A reported seven million Italians
will be travelling during the upcoming holiday weekend and will
spend at least one night at a hotel, hoteliers' association
Federalberghi said Friday.
Nearly 91.5% of Italians will stay in Italy while 8.5% will
travel abroad during the long weekend which includes All Saints'
Day on November 1, according to a research conducted by
Federalberghi on October 17-21 before two new quakes on
Wednesday night caused extensive damage in the central Marche
and Umbria regions, leaving some 5,000 people homeless.
Federalberghi President Bernabò Bocca said that, "although
the economic situation is still difficult" tourism remains "at
the center" of the economy and one of the few sectors "able to
produce revenue and jobs".
