The prosecutor's office in the
Italian capital has requested that Valentino Talluto, a
32-year-old HIV-positive man who infected at least 30 women in
unprotected sexual relations despite being aware of his
condition, be sent to trial.
There are a total of 57 cases filed, including incidents of
indirect contagion (an infant and three sexual partners of women
he had infected) and women with whom he had unprotected sex but
who did not get infected.
The charges formulated by state prosecutor Francesco Scavo
are deliberate infection and serious injury.
Talluto, who may ask for a fast-track trial, could be
handed down a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
