A preliminary investigations judge
on Friday shelved a bankruptcy fraud investigation against
Premier Matteo Renzi's father, Tiziano Renzi, in the crack-up of
Genoa-based Chil Post newspaper and publicity distribution firm.
The probe was opened in 2013, when the firm founded by the
elder Renzi went belly up.
Tiziano Renzi said it was "the end of a kafkaesque
nightmare" and that he "has so much faith in the justice system,
I will spend the next few years in court seeking damages for all
the mud that has been slung at me, solely due to my last name".
