An autopsy will be carried out on
Wednesday afternoon on the body of a one-month-old baby who died
in Turin this week following a home circumcision.
The baby on Monday died in hospital after suffering cardiac
arrest.
Both of the child's parents, Ghanaian nationals, are under
investigation for the circumcision, which was carried out
illegally by an unauthorized doctor, reportedly also a Ghanaian
citizen who has yet to be identified.
The baby's mother, a 35-year-old refugee, also faces
culpable homicide charges as she gave her son a 250mg dose of
paracetamol after the circumcision - a dose only recommended for
children weighing over 12 kilos.
