A fast-track trial in the
so-called 'Aemilia' case of Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia
penetration in Emilia Romagna ended with most of the 71
defendants, including members of the Grande Aracri clan, being
sentenced to up to 15 years in jail.
But two politicians, former Forza Italia Reggio Emilia
councillor Giuseppe Pagliani and former People of Freedom Parma
councillor Giovanni Paolo Bernini, were acquitted.
