Tito Boeri, the head of
pensions and social security agency INPS, on Monday said that
only 150,000 of the so-called "orange envelopes" containing a
simulation of future pension amounts would be sent out by
Christmas.
"We weren't given the authorisation by the ministries to go
beyond the spending cap. The spending for mailing has a quota,"
Boeri said.
The mailing regards "covered categories" of workers, which
doesn't include public-sector employees, and is only for those
who don't have a PIN code to access the online pension
simulation, Boeri said.
He said he hopes the budget bill will release the necessary
spending in order to send the majority of the remaining orange
envelopes immediately following the initial mailing.
