Carabinieri military police are
seeking a man who battered his estranged wife while she was on
her way to see a divorce lawyer, sources said Thursday.
The 35-year-old victim was attacked and beaten in front of
her two children, aged five and six years.
Bleeding from a head injury, the victim sought refuge in
her lawyer's office until Carabinieri arrived and took her to
hospital.
The attacker, from whom she had separated two years ago,
fled the scene.
The victim had decided to ask her lawyer about the new law
on quickie divorces, which was ratified Wednesday.
It allows divorces within six months if both parties agree,
and within a year if one or both parties go to a judge.
