A 46-year-old father was shot
and fatally wounded, allegedly by a 19-year-old man, Tuesday as
a dispute between love-crossed teenagers spilled over to their
families, police said.
The alleged gunman, identified only as A.M., was arrested
after the shooting in the popular Librino district of the port
city of Catania.
The dead man was identified as Giovanni Di Bella, who was
fatally wounded with a pistol shot to the chest.
Police allege the assailant was the elder brother of a
13-year-old in competition with Di Bella's 14-year-old son for
the heart of a local teenage girl.
Prosecutor Giovanni Salvi said the shooting was "linked to
personal motives" but also "linked indirectly to organised
crime".
