A Turin prosecutor on Thursday
petitioned a judge to hand prison sentences adding up to a total
of 127 years divided among 16 defendants.
The defendants are accused of creating a cell of the
Romanian mafia in Turin.
The heaviest sentence was 15 years for Eugen Paun, who is
accused of being the group's leader.
The cell's alleged founder, Viorel Oarza, pleaded guilty to
all charges.
Oarza plea-bargained a two-year sentence, which is to be
added to his sentences for prior convictions.
