Former education minister, ex
National Research Council chief and former dean of Turin
university Francesco Profumo on Monday quit as president of
Compagnia di San Paolo, the foundation that controls Italy's
biggest bank Intesa-Sanpaolo, ahead of a reported run for the
bank's presidency in 2025.
The resignation of the 70-year-old Savona born electronic
engineering graduate will take effect on February 22.
Profumo has been head of the Compagnia since 2016.
