European Commission Vice-President
Valdis Dombrovskis' statement that Italy's 2024 budget law "does
not seem to be in line with the recommendations of the EU
Council" repeat the judgement expressed by the European
Commission (EC) on November 21 on Italy's budget planning
document (DPB), the economy ministry said in a statement on
Friday evening.
On that occasion Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti declared:
"We welcome the European commission's judgement. Everything as
expected: despite the legacy of the negative impact of energy
and the Superbonus, we are moving forward with healthy realism",
according to the statement.
Earlier in the day Dombrovskis reprimanded Italy over its 2024
budget, telling Sky television from Davos that "we have asked
Italy to change course and bring its public accounts back in
line with our recommendations".
