Confindustria President Carlo Bonomi
said Saturday that the 2024 budget bill which Premier Giorgia
Meloni's cabinet is set to approve on Monday was reasonable
while calling on the government to cut public spending to make
permanent tax cuts possible.
"The budget has shown reasonableness and obviously this is a
good thing," the head of the Italian industrial confederation
told the Giovani Imprenditori (Young Entrepreneurs) conference.
"However, it is a budget that contains many time-limited
interventions, such as the one maintaining a cut to the
labour-tax wedge.
"It is obvious that, if we want to make structural
interventions, we must attack public spending.
"Otherwise, it is difficult to find the resources needed for
structural interventions aimed at fostering growth, which is the
way to reassure the markets".
