Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Wednesday the government would asses the
2024 budget deficit calmly and without panic or alarmism.
"Will more deficit be needed for the budget: Now we will
evaluate, the situation is difficult, everything must be done
not to increase the debt but 'we are facing an emergency that is
independent of Italy's responsibility, with inflation linked to
raw materials and the war in Ukraine," Tajani said in New York.
He assured reporters at the UN General Assembly that "in Europe
we will find the right understanding.
"We must be optimistic and work with determination but not fall
into panic and alarmism which worsens the situation.
"Instead we need seriousness, efficiency and the right choices:
the ones we will try to make".
