Confcommercio President Carlo Sangalli
told the retail association's annual conference on Wednesday
that there were around 480,000 job vacancies in the Italian
service sector, adding that "there is a concrete risk of demand
not being met in over 40%" of cases.
He said that main reason for the shortage was that it was
difficult to find candidates with the required skills to fill
jobs.
He called for interventions to "close the gap between training
and businesses' needs" and the planning of "adequate flows of
immigrant workers".
