Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
said after the IMF forecast Italian growth of 1.1% in both 2023
and 2024 that the government's own forecasts of 1.2% this year
and 1.4% next were prudent and hopeful.
"I think that a GDP at 1.2-1.4 per cent is a wish. I look at
Germany's economy and deduce that it will create some problems
for our industry but there are services that should compensate.
The government has always been cautious about estimates. This
has fuelled a climate of confidence around this government,"
said Giorgetti during a meeting at the Trento Festival of
Economics.
