Italian consumer confidence fell in
January but business confidence rose, ISTAT said Thursday.
In January, the stats agency said, there was an estimated
decrease in the consumer confidence index (from 102.5 to 100.9)
and an increase in the composite index of business business
confidence (from 107.9 to 109.1).
ISTAT said that all the component series of the consumer
confidence index are worsening except for expectations on the
general economic situation and unemployment.
For businesses, confidence has improved in all sectors except
retail trade, the national statistics institute said.
The climate of business confidence increased for the third
consecutive month reaching a level above the average for 2022.
