Italian retail sales dropped by 0.4%
in value terms and by 1.1% in volume in August with respect to
July, ISTAT said on Friday.
The national statistics agency said the fall regarded both
non-food goods (down 0.3% in value and 0.9% in volume) and foods
(down 0.5% in value and 1.4% in volume).
It said retail sales were up 4.3% in value terms but down 2.1%
in volume with respect to August 2021.
It is the third consecutive month that Italian year-on-year
sales have increased in value terms but decreased in volume, a
reflection of the high inflation rate.
